A staff of Redeemer University, Akoda, Ede, escaped death when he ran into a speedy train in Osogbo, Osun State capital.
Eyewitness account revealed that the driver, who was simply identified as Owolabi, was following a convoy at Olaiya junction, before he ran into the train.
It was gathered that the convoy had passed before the train arrived but Owolabi’s effort to go before the train proved futile.
The middle age man was said to be listening to music in his car, hence unable to hear the horn of the train.
The railway official, who did not want his name mentioned in print, said the man did not observe the flag, carried by two officials of the railway because of his concentration to the loud music in his car.
However, Owolabi who refused to speak with journalists, said he was on an official assignment to the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo.
The Toyota Corolla with registration number Lagos, KTU 957 CF, was hit by the train while the driver sustained minor injury.
Officials of the Federal Road Safety Commission, FRSC, who came to the venue of the incident, declined comments, as they towed the vehicle away.
