Former Senate President and Senator representing Benue South Senatorial zone, Senator David Mark’s visit to Agatu to ascertain the level of destruction caused by the recent attack by Fulani men almost turned sour on Friday.
Some headers who still occupy some Agatu territories shot at his convoy.
Mark was in company with former minister of Interior, Comrade Abba Moro, member House of Representatives representing Ohimini/Otukpo, Hon. Ezekiel Adaji, security aides, newsmen and party supporters.
He was, however, unhurt as a rapid response from security men on the convoy wade off the attack in Akwu Community.
The incident caused a huge commotion as the herdsmen were seen taking off with their heads while members of the convoy disembarked and headed in the other direction before the intervention.
During the visit,,Senator Mark visited the eight communities affected including Aila, Akwu, Okokolo, Adagbo, Akwu, Ogboju and Odugbeho which are completely destroyed by Fulani herdsmen.
Mark who regretted the level of carnage assured the people that he will ensure such situations does not occur again.
He called on the people to go about their businesses peacefully, ,adding that the perpetrators of the act will be brought to book through legal means
