A massive fire has occurred in Lagos around the DHL on the way to the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, adjourning Apapa-Oshodi Expressway by Toyota Bus Stop.
Serious traffic obstruction and gridlock have occurred following the development.
Eyewitnesses told WESTERN POST that the fire occurred when a tanker in motion and conveying around 40,000 liters of petrol ran into a culvert and capsized in its bid to avoid another vehicle carrying iron rods.
In the process, the carrier emptied its contents on the newly-constructed road causing pandemonium around the area.
The road, which included a flyover, was constructed about three years ago by former Lagos Governor Akinwunmi Ambode.
The massive fire is still billowing at the time of filing this report. No casualty has been recorded, however.
Men of the Lagos Fire Service, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, National Emergency Management Agency, Federal Road Safety Corps, and others are on the ground managing the situation and controlling traffic.
