The National President, National Union of Road Transport Union (NURTW), Alhaji Ibikunle Baruwa, has appointed popular socialite, Alhaji Musillu Akinsanya, popularly known as MC Oluomo, as Lagos Chapter Caretaker Chairman.
In a statement issued by Secretary, Kabiru Ado on Tuesday, Baruwa dissolved the executive committee of Lagos chapter and replaced it with an 18-member caretaker committee.
MC Oluomo, until his appointment, was the chairman of Oshodi Branch and Treasurer of Lagos NURTW.
According to the statement, “Sequel to the crucial meeting held on September 3rd, 2019, between the National Administrative Council of NURTW led by its president, Alhaji Ibikunke Tajudeen Barwa, and the Lagos state Chairman led by its state Chairman, Alhaji Tajudeen Agbede.
“The Lagos State Exco was dissolved while a caretaker committee was put in place under the chairmanship of Alhaji Musiliu Akinsanya.”
Other members of the committee are Mustapha Adekunle, Ganiyu Shittu, Sulyman Ojora, Runsewe Mukaila, Sunday Ogunbiyi, among others.
“Rounding off the crucial meeting, the new president warned the members that the era of thuggery has come to an end and that he would not allow any act of hooliganism in the union,” the statement said.
He further emphasized that anybody caught with any act of hooliganism will be dismissed from the union and handed over to the appropriate law enforcement authority.
MC Oluomo is also vying for the chairmanship position of the chapter. The caretaker committee will oversee the Lagos Chapter until the election of new executives.
