Meet the First Woman to Bear Lagos Assembly Mace in 41years

Mrs Oyindamola Olorogun made history on Monday, September 28, as the first female Sergeant-at-Arms to bear The Mace ( Symbol of Authority) in the 41 years history of the Lagos state House of Assembly.

Olorogun was the cynosure of all eyes at the plenary session when her sonorous voice reverberated through the Chambers as she shouted “Order! Mr Speaker”.

Not a few members including, visiting members from Borno State House of Assembly, were taken aback when she led the Speaker, Rt. (Hon) Mudashiru Obasa into the Chambers for the day’s proceedings.

Olorogun is one of the female members of the Sergent-at-Arms Corps of the House.

She is an HND graduate of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta, Ogun state. Olorogun, who is a mother of two children, was born 33 years ago. She joined the Lagos House of Assembly Service Commission in 2019.
