The stage is now set for a potentially explosive showdown in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo State as
the Governor, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko sent his own delegates to Abuja on
Tuesday, to attend the declaration rally of Dr. Goodluck Jonathan for the second term ambition as the President of Nigeria in defiance of a court order.
The Federal High Court, Abuja had last Thursday nullified the parallel faction of the party headed by Hon Dare Adeleke and financed by the Governor. The copies of the order with suit no: cv/96/14
between plaintiff/applicants; Hon Ebenezer Alabi (state chairman),
Alhaji Fatai Adams (Deputy State Chairman), Chief Oyedele Ibine
(secretary) and the defendants/respondents; Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Ahmed Muazu (National chairman PDP), Prince Uche Secondus
(Deputy National Chairman) PDP Prof. Wale Oladipo (National Secretary,
PDP) and 12 others had been made available to the ‘Western Post’ on Friday.
The order further stated that, the Independent National Electoral
Commission (INEC) should and must not recognise the parallel faction,
since the defectors have no waiver and membership cards. It was further reiterated that INEC must not accept any list of the parallel faction into any political post whatsoever, either to the state
Assembly or National Assembly until March 2015
Meanwhile, following the alleged dissolution of the state executive
members, the National Executive Council and the National Working Committee of PDP denied ever altering such pronouncement as being speculated.
The affidavit reads:
4b “That the 1st -13th defendants/respondents have not implemented
any of the recommendations of the reconciliation and integration
4c “That contrary to paragraphs 8(i), (ii) and (iii) of the
plaintiffs/applicants motion, the 1st defendant has not issued or
directed/instructed the issuance of any membership of the 2nd
defendant/ dissolved any executive of our party in ondo state.
The defendants counter Affidavit to plaintiffs motion in the last
“That the 1st-13th defendants/respondents will under no circumstances,
disobey or disregard your lordship rules, orders or judgment in this
suit or another suit whatsoever in accordance with the oaths Act,
Meanwhile all efforts at reaching the parallel caretaker chairman proved abortive.
However, a decampee from Governor’ Mimiko’s camp (name withheld) told ‘Western Post’ that, they have accepted their fate.
“Oga should have respected the people he met on ground before taking that decision, we, the followers will suffer most,” he said.
