MNCHW: Ogun Expresses Satisfaction at Turnout of Nursing Mother

The Ogun State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Tomi Coker has expressed satisfaction at the impressive attendance of mothers and caregivers at the ongoing Maternal, Newborn and Child Health Week (MNCHW). Saying this shows that they are committed to adequate care of their health to reduce maternal and child mortality.

Dr. Coker who made this known during an assessment visit to facilities in the State, said, ‘’the healthcare seeking behaviour of residents is improving tremendously, noting that the action would improve the State’s rating in the National Demographic Health Survey.

She noted that the present administration would not rest on its oars, to ensure people have access to effective healthcare service delivery during and after the exercise.

In his contribution, the Executive Secretary, State Primary Health Care Development Board, Dr. Elijah Ogunsola, encouraged mothers and caregivers to avail themselves the opportunity of the week to access the various health interventions, such as vitamin A supplementation, nutritional check, Routine Immunisation, HIV counseling and testing and education on key household practices, among others.

The Head of Local Government Administration, Abeokuta South Local Government, Mrs. Olubukola Adeniregun in her remark, commended the State Government for the timely commencement of the Week, saying the various health interventions would improve the overall wellbeing and productivity of residents.

In their separate remarks, Mrs. Jamila Ajayi and Dorcas Ejire, on behalf of beneficiaries, appreciated government for making the healthcare of people paramount in its agenda to uplift the State, promising to encourage others in their various communities to come out and take advantage of the exercise.

Facilities visited included Ake and Keesi Primary Health Centers in Abeokuta South Local Government Area of the State.
