More details have emerged over the impeachment early Monday morning of Ondo State Deputy Governor, Alhaji Ali Olanusi.
Olanusi was impeached over allegations of gross misconduct.
This followed the consideration and adoption of the report of the seven-man panel instituted to investigate the allegations brought against Olanusi, which found him guilty.
Twenty-two of the 26-member assembly were present at the special sitting. 20 had earlier signed the Notice of Impeachment.
The report read in part: “…placing reliance on the meaning of gross misconduct as defined in Section 188 (11) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 as amended, we hereby find that allegations of gross misconduct have been proved against the Ondo State Deputy Governor’.
The Majority Leader of the House, Hon. Ifedayo Akinsoyinu, representing Ondo West Constituency II, moved the motion, which was seconded by the Deputy Majority, Oyebo Aladetan, representing Ilaje Constituency I
The Speaker, Hon Jumoke Akindele, put the motion to the House and the impeachment was carried by a unanimous Yes of all the 22 lawmakers present at the sitting.
