Ogun State Government is planning a three month road show to sensitize people on the State especially pregnant women and children from 0-5years to enroll for its ‘’ARAYA’’, a Community-Based Health Scheme that would afford them access to free healthcare services.
The Commissioner for Health, Dr Babatunde Ipaye said the road show was necessary to ensure that pregnant women and children take advantage of the scheme towards forestalling maternal and infant mortality rates across the States.
According to him, the road show which had begun in Abeokuta North Local Government Area, today involved health officials from the Ministry of Health to ensure registration and prompt printing of Identification card which was expected to be presented at designated hospitals.
Ipaye said government would not relent on its effort at providing efficient and qualitative health care services, just as measures were in place to fortify its Primary Health Care Centres to meet the health needs of the indigent citizens.
“We are out today to places where we can find women and children under the age of five. The road show will focus on markets, churches, mosques, the streets by bringing health services closer to the community”, Ipaye said.
Some of the community members also benefited from the free medical check-up provided by partners collaborating with the State in Abeokuta North as one of the beneficiaries, Mrs Agbolade Joy, a pregnant woman commended the initiative, saying she was excited when she received her ‘’ARAYA’’ identification card on the spot as she was more willing to visit the hospital to access all the benefits provided by the scheme.
