Reactions have continued to trail the Supreme Court Judgement reaffirming the Victory of Kogi State Governor , Yahaya Bello as winner of November 16th , 2019 governorship election in the State.
The Apex Court had yesterday finally put to a rest the petitions of appellents who have contested the Gubernatorial Election in the state challenging the incumbent governor, Yahaya Bello as it dismised the appeals filed by the Governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Musa Wada and Social Democratic Party (SDP) flag bearer Natasha Akpoti who had been in legal tangle in last Nine months.
To the All Progressive Congress (APC), the judgement is a victory for democracy and the People Kogi State calling on the opppsition parties to join hands with APC government to move Kogi Forward, while the Peoples Democratic Party has acxepted the verdict of supreme court affirming Bello’s Victory in good faith and leave everything to God .
While reacting to Monday’s Supreme Court’s ruling , the PDP in a statement signed by its Publicity Secretary, Bode Ogunmola, said while it accepts in good faith the ruling of the Apex Court, it leaves the final judgement in the hands of God.
Ogunmola explained that the Apex court in the land has given its verdict, stressing that the PDP has no choice than to accept it and went ahead to appreciate the resilience of members and the teeming supporters of the party.
The Publicity Secretary however paid a glowing tribute to the governorship candidate of PDP, Musa Wada and his running mate, Samuel Bamidele Aro for their doggedness in the contest to this level.
Peoples Democratic Party also appreciated the legal team of the party , paying tribute to all those who either died, got maimed or injured during the election.
“Concluding, the party said, “We thank God for the grace and the courage to go this far. We believe that He has the ultimate say.”
The Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly , Matthew Kolawole has described the victory of Governor Yahaya Bello and his Deputy, David Edward Onoja at the Supreme Court against the Governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) Engr. Musa Wada, Natasha Akpoti of Social Democratic Party (SDP) respectively as historic.
Kolawole said it is heartwarming to receive the cheering news of the landmark judgment which has once again confirmed the popularity of the All Progressive Congress in the state, stressing that truly those petitions lacked merit that Jurists at the Supreme Court has done justice to uphold the decision of the lower courts on the issues.
He said the dismissal of all the cases are long envisaged as many of the points canvassed by the petitioners are based on hearsay, noting that the Judiciary has proved to be the last hope of the people.
He further said that the victory wouldn’t have come at a better time considering the rigorous campaigns that earned the majority votes of the electorates across the 21 Local Government Areas in the State.
He urged the opposition to drop whatever grievances they might have and join hands with Governor Yahaya Bello to move the State to the next level of development, noting that the election held on the 16th November, 2019 was squarely won by the All Progressive Congress (APC) and Governor Yahaya Bello overwhelmingly
He said the legislative arm under his watch with his colleagues will continue to collaborate with the Executive and other stakeholders to make laws that will enable Governor Yahaya Bello-led administration to do more for the people of the State.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of the All Progressive Congress in Kogi state ,Abdulahi Bello has described the Supreme Court verdict affirming Governor Bello as the winner vof last November governorship election as a well deserved victory.
Abdullahi subsequently called on all opposition parties,the People’s Democratic Party,PDP and Social Democratic Party to join hands with the All progressives Congress,APC to move the state forward.
The Supreme Court on Monday upheld the decision of the tribunal and Appeal courts to declaring Governor Bello as the winner of the election affirmed him as the state Governor for a second term.
“Our doors are open and we are ready to involve everyone in moving the state forward to the next level of development and prosperity.” The chairman told our correspondent in an interaction over the phone.
The APC helmsman in the state said that the Supreme court’s ruling was a pointer to the fact that the judiciary was a trusted ally in the task ensuring justice for the common man.
