Commercial car drivers, tricyclists and motorcyclists in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, have resulted to hiking transportation fares due to fuel scarcity.
Distance which ordinarily should not be more than N50 now cost between N100- N150 per trip
Some petrol filling stations visited by our correspondent were seen locked while others who sold did above the pump price.
Long queues were seen at few fueling stations selling Premium Motor Spirits(PMS) while the number of black marketers kept on increasing.
A tricyclist who spoke with Westernpost, said the fuel was sold at N160 and above in some stations, while black marketers sold it at N300 per litre which he said was responsible for the hike in the transport fare.
He noted that he had no choice but to increase the amount charged passengers so as to recoup the money he spent in buying fuel.
