In commemoration of the new year, wife of the Oyo State Governor, Mrs Florence Ajimobi has doled out gifts and cash to seven new born babies of the year.
The babies are one boy and six girls from Nigerian Police Medical Service, Eleyele and Adeoyo Maternity Hospital in Ibadan.
While receiving the gifts and cash at the Nigeria Police Medical Service, Eleyele, Ibadan, the mother of the first baby, a boy whose baby was delivered at exactly 12:01am thanked the state government for the gestures.
The mother, who is an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Esther Olaofe and husband, Mr Olawale Olaofe, a university staff, said they did not expect the gestures from the state government.
The couple, therefore, showed their heart of gratitude and also prayed for the governor and his wife.
Meanwhile, the mothers of other six new born babies who were delivered at Adeoyo Maternity Hospital, namely Suliyat Adeleye, a medical doctor from Jericho Specialist Hospital in Ibadan, Rukayat Adesina and four others also thanked the state government for the show of love.
Speaking with newsmen, Mrs Ajimobi, who was represented by the Commissioner for Women Affairs, Community Development, Social Welfare and Poverty Alleviation, Mrs Tinuke Osunkoya charged mothers and all citizens of the state to continue to live in love, peace and harmony with one another for the uplift of the state.
She said: “On behalf of the state government, I thank God for witnessing a new year and we congratulate the new mothers on the birth of their children today, the first of January, 2019. We pray that it shall be a blessed, happy and joyful year for all of us.
“And my message to the people of Oyo State is that we should continue to live in peace and harmony in the state. We should continue to love one another for the uplift of the state and I pray by the end of this year, we shall have full cause to glorify God,” she added.
