The Ogun State Ministry of Urban and Physical Planning and Urban and Regional Planning Board have proposed to generate the sum of N5.6 billion in the 2019 fiscal year 2019 budget.
The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Tpl. (Mrs.) Yetunde Dina disclosed this while presenting her agency’s Appropriation Bill for 2019 before the House Committee on Lands and Housing.
She said the Urban and Regional Planning Board, which was the implementing agency of the Ministry of Urban and Physically Planning would generate the sum of N5bn from fencing permit, survey, planning and building fees, land use fees, administrative charges and penal fees, adding that the remaining N600m would be generated by the Ministry.
Explaining further, the Permanent Secretary said for the Ministry and the Board to ensure orderly physical development, the sum of N915m was proposed for both recurrent and capital expenditures, in both the Ministry and the board for 2019.
While answering question from Hon. Bowale Sonuga from Ikenne State Constituency, on the increase in the recurrent expenditure, compared to 2018 budget, Dina explained that the Ministry would establish additional three Zonal Planning Offices in the three ‘’Development Pressure Areas’’ of Obere in Ota, Agbara and Ado-Odo, to complement the existing twenty Zonal offices across the State, to curb the spread of illegal development.
While responding, the chairman House committee on Finance and appropriation, Hon. Victor Oludotun Fasanya commended the Ministry for good synergy with other agencies of government cited the examples of using OGTV and OGBC to propagate their programmes and activities.
He advised that the Ministry intensify their efforts in the area of development control in order to have a well planned state.
