MUYIWA, OMISORE’S AIDE IN WAR OF WORDS OVER IGE’S MURDER

0

By Ismail Afolabi, Osogbo Former Minister of Justice
and Attorney-General
of the federation,
Chief Bola Ige, was murdered
by yet unknown assailants
at his Bodija residence in
Ibadan, Oyo State capital, over
13 years ago (December 2001).
His son who is at present
Osun State Commissioner for
Lands and Physical Planning,
Architect Muyiwa Ige, in an
agonised voice during the week
bemoaned that the ghost of his
deceased father would continue
to hunt Ige’s Killer.
But former Chairman of Senate
Committee on Appropriation
and Peoples Democratic Party
governorship aspirant in Osun
State, Senator Iyiola Omisore,
and the new Minister of Police
Affairs, Alhaji Jeleel Adesiyan,
both of whom had been exonerated
by the court over their alleged
involvement in the killing
of Ige, said Muyiwa was disparaging
them on the matter with
intent to discredit them.
Both Muyiwa and Odeyemi
addressed separate press conferences
at the correspondent
Chapel of the Nigeria Union of
Journalists in Osogbo, Osun
State capital, within the week
over the same matter.
Muyiwa said the killers of his
late father would not escape
from the wrath of God at the
appropriate time. He lamented
that those who killed Ige were
still walking free on the streets
up till date and that this situation
was frustrating his family
members.
According to him “if they said
they were not the killers of my
father, we all know that Bola Ige
did not kill himself, was he the
one that assaulted himself in
Ile-Ife, of course, some people
did that to him.”
He said the killers of his late
father would not know peace
till they joined him, stressing
that the ghost of Ige would continue
to hunt all those who knew
about his assassination.
He said the family had resolved
to leave the killers of the
Esa-Oke born politician to God
for divine judgment.
But the Director of Publicity
for Iyiola Omisore Organisation
(IOO), which is championing
Omisore’s campaign for the August
9 governorship election in
Osun, Prince Diran Odeyemi,
who spoke on behalf of Omisore
and Adesiyan, said the two
politicians had been exonerated
over the alleged murder of Ige.
Odeyemi said Muyiwa was attacking
Omisore and Adesiyan
so to please the state’s Governor
Rauf Aregbesola-led All Progressives
Congress government
and justify his appointment as
commissioner.
He said Muyiwa was not behaving
like a true son of the late
Ige.
Odeyemi also warned Muyiwa
to stop attacking Omisore, who
he claimed paid his school fess
in school, and Adesiyan on the
killing of Ige.
He said Muyiwa erred in his
utterances in which he castigated
President Goodluck Jonathan
for appointing Adesiyan as
minister of police affairs.
Odeyemi said: “Muyiwa failed
to emulate his late father who
was a very honourable person
in Yorubaland and his recent
outburst does not depict him as
a true son of Ige. Muyiwa must
retrace his steps and stop
causing unwarranted confusion
or else we will have reason to
doubt his paternity. He should
not be the one that would be
used against Senator Omisore
who paid his fees when he was
in school abroad”.
