A 17-year-old-boy, Thompson Akinfolarin, has admitted to an Akure Customary Court that, he beat up his mother because she cheats on his father.
According to him “my mother Akinfolarin Idowu, a fashion designer engages in adulatory when she has not divorced my father. So anytime I see her, I feel irritated and I cannot respect her anymore.”
Meanwhile, the middle-aged woman had approached the customary court Grade B, seeking the dissolution of the 25-year-old marriage between her and her husband.
According to her, she said her husband was not a good man despite having three children for him with the eldest being a young man of twenty years.
She said the husband derives joy and pleasure in beating her and that the husband has turned the children against her.
“My son would throw objects at me and slap me whenever I tried to correct him of any wrongdoing”.
She said further that” I caught my husband having sex with my apprentice on our matrimonial bed, when I took him up to the task over his conduct, he beat me up that day, my son also continue in his shoes as he also beats me “.
The husband, a furniture maker explained to the court that his wife was not saying the truth.
According to him, his wife was not a responsible woman, expressing that she was cheating.
“She would not listen to my instructions. I know that my wife was cheating. I am no longer interested in her,” he said.
He, therefore, urged the court to dissolve the marriage, saying the compatibility is not there anymore.
The presiding president, Chief Rotimi Olusanya, therefore, ordered both parties to maintain peace and go home to settle the case amicably.
He later adjourned the case till September 13, 2020 for determination.
