The South-West APC Woman Leader, Chief Kemi Nelson and the Lagos All Progressives Congress (APC) Woman Leader, Hon. Jumoke Thomas-Okoya, are currently in a battle for supremacy over who controls the women wing of party in Lagos.

Hell was let loose on Monday 27 August, 2018 when some thugs who were allegedly working for Chief (Mrs.) Kemi Nelson invaded the Lagos State secretariat of the party with dangerous weapons to attack some aides of Hon. Junior Thomas-Okoya.

Sources revealed that some executive members of the party in the state were having a meeting in the office of the state Chairman of the party, Hon. Tunde Balogun, when Kemi Nelson stormed the secretariat with about six thugs led by one Ayo Ali Balogun.

It was gathered that the Ayo Alli Balogun went straight to the State Women Leader of Party, Hon. Jumoke Okoya-Thomas at the party chairman’s office and warned her to behave herself, while trying to provoke her to a fight, but Okoya-Thomas kept her cool and did not utter a word, but rather left the meeting for her make-shift office in the secretariat.

It was however gathered that Kemi Nelson and her hoodlums were still not satisfied.

“Ayo Alli-Balogun then went outside the office where she sighted the Personal Assistant of Hon. Jumoke Okoya-Thomas, Alhaja Abiodun and engaged her in a serious fight that caused the PA serious body injury to the extent that she lost a lot of blood in the process.

“Alhaja Abiodun had to be rushed to a nearby hospital or else she would have lost her life over unnecessary jealousy and envy.

“Only God knows what Kemi Nelson wants after she has been elevated from the state Women Leader to the position of South West Women Leader of the party apart from being an appointee of President Muhammadu Buhari as a board member of NSITF,” said a source.

Investigation revealed that the crisis between Jumoke Okoya-Thomas and Kemi Nelson started shortly after Okoya-Thomas was sworn-in as the state Women Leader of the party.
We were informed that Kemi Nelson refused to hand over to Okoya-Thomas, and that she is yet to vacate her office in the state party Secretariat to the latter to the chagrin of watchers of events.

Sources revealed that all efforts made by the common friends of the duo to resolve the matter between them were rebuffed by Kemi Nelson, who has vowed to make things difficult for Okoya-Thomas.

Sources informed us that the office of the South West APC Women Leader was intentionally created for Kemi Nelson by the leaders of the party, who had pre-empted what is happening at the moment, and that Kemi Nelson is still not happy and that she has vowed to ensure that “Jumoke Okoya-Thomas does not succeed as the Lagos APC Women Leader no matter how hard she tries.”

Meanwhile, in a statement from the Media Office of Chief(Mrs) Kemi Nelson,
it was alleged six weird looking men in black t-shirt stormed the office of the Zonal Women Leader (South West), demanding to see her and that her staff at the office requested for details of their visit including reasons for the visit which they refused to provide information on their mission.

The statement reads: “Six weird looking men in black t-shirt stormed the office of the Zonal Women Leader (South West), demanding to see her. Her staff at the office requested for details of their visit including reasons for the visit. They refused to provide information on their mission at Chief Mrs. Nelson’s office other than they came there from one iron Lady in Lagos Island.

“Apparently sensing that they may not be allowed to gain entry because Chief Mrs. Nelson was in a meeting with the Lagos State Deputy Chairman, Chief Sunny Ajose and State Vice Chairman, West Senatorial District, Chief Funsho Ologunde, the men unleashed terror of unimaginable proportion on the office and on everyone in sight.

“They vandalized the office, beat up all staff members, party members and stole personal belongings such as phones, office items and other valuables. The men came prepared to maim and destroy. They were armed with shot guns and others dangerous weapons. This made party members, including Chief Mrs. Kemi Nelson to run for their dear lives.

“The Zonal Women Leader, South West, Chief Mrs. Kemi Nelson wishes to call on all party members, associates and well-wishers who may have been inundated by reports of the incident to remain calm as the matter is being looked into by the party leadership.
We wish to maintain that it will be resolved amicably.

“We also want to reiterate that our party, the All Progressive Congress is a party of peaceful co-existence and development, which are in alignment with what Chief Mrs. Kemi Nelson has preached in her over twenty five years of active politics in Nigeria.”

The incident of Monday 27th August, 2018 is alien to Chief Mrs. Kemi Nelson and we are assuring that the party leadership will work assiduously towards a peaceful and amicable resolution.”

As it is now, the leadership of the party at both State and National level have not commented on the crisis.

Analysts opined that the crisis if not addressed by the leadership of the party quickly may extend beyond control between the two Woman Leaders.
