New President of South Africa Elected

Following the resignation of former president Jacob Zuma on Wednesday, February 14th,  a new president, Cyril Ramaphosa, has been elected on Thursday, February 15th, 2018. 

South African lawmakers elected Ramaphosa after pressuring Zuma into resignation.

Ramaphosa was elected without a vote after being the only candidate nominated in the parliament in Cape Town, chief justice Mogoeng Mogoeng told assembled lawmakers.
