Nigeria Armed Forces Radio Station Begins Live Transmission


2013_August_Articles_nigerian-army_artThe Nigerian Armed Forces Radio Station has began live transmission in federal capital territory, Abuja earlier today, Defence Headquarters has said.

The radio station is expected to disseminate information regarding activities of the Nigeria Military forces and the security of the nation.

Former president Goodluck Jonathan had commissioned the station in May at the Mogadishu Cantonment in Abuja, shortly before leaving office on May 29. 2015

The radio station which transmits signal on 107.7 is the first Nigerian Armed Forces Radio Station.

According to a tweet by the of official Twitter handle of the Nigeria Military Forces, it said “Armed Forces radio transmitting live on 107.7.

President Muhammadu Buhari had on July13 appointed Major-General Abayomi Gabriel Olonishakin is Chief of Defence Staff in a bid to rid the northeast of Boko Haram terrorist which has killed more than 20,000 people in the last 6 years.
The other Service Chiefs appointed by Mr. Buhari are; Major-General T.Y. Buratai , Chief of Army Staff; Rear Admiral Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas appointed Chief of Naval Staff; Air Vice Marshal Sadique Abubakar is the new Chief of Air Staff and Air Vice Marshal Monday Riku Morgan, is now the Chief of Defence Intelligence.
