The new Commissioner of Police in Kwara State, Mr. Olushola Amore, has disclosed that he entertains no fear or panic working in the state and with the police officers on ground as he is more familiar with the state as he served in lower capacity in time past.
Amore said this during a change of guard ceremony held at Police Officers’ Mess on Friday in Ilorin.
The new CP noted that he was moved by accolades Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed showered on the out-going CP Okaula, which he said could be so because of the cooperation between the police officers and Kwara community, promising to keep the harmonious relationship he met.
“I don’t have any fear working with Kwara officers, as I once worked here for one month and the blessing I earned in Kwara as DPO before I got transferred to Niger state is what ‘am here to work for this time around.
“I was moved by the accolades Governor Ahmed gave the outgoing CP and this came to be because of their cooperation, Kwara is a State of Harmony, let us keep that harmonious tempo,” he emphasized
Amore, who is also the course mate of the out-going CP, pledged 24-hour police officers’ services. He also said he would be accessible and available and promote community-oriented policing.
He said he remains committed to the fight against corruption as he takes charge. He said the battle would be waged through multi-agency collaboration.
Earlier, the outgoing CP Sam Okaula expressed satisfaction for his achievement within the period of seven months he spent in Kwara State Police Command and assured the people of the state of the competence of the new CP.
“Today as I end my tour of duty as Commissioner of Police in Kwara State, I must say I’m an accomplished man. Why am I so? I am accomplished because ‘am handing over to an intelligent, hard-working and capable Commissioner of Police. After seven months of service, today I boldly say that another new Sherrif is in town”
According to Okaula, the set of policemen here are God-fearing and hard-working, because despite the spate of crimes, we never shifted ground in fighting crime in Kwara State.
He commended the officers of men in the police for standing behind him even when he took tough decisions, assuring the new CP that inasmuch as he does the right thing, he has nothing to fear. He said he would look forward to hearing good news from Kwara State
