The Director General of National Orientation Agency (NOA), Dr. Garba Abari has restated that peace is imperative to the social- economic survival of Nigeria,noting that failure to safe guard it the economy of Nigeria will collapsed.
Abbari who disclosed this while speaking at the inauguration of Local Government Assembly: Building The People of Peace” campaign with the admonition on youths to embrace peace.
He also called on different political agitators to engage in dialogue to resolve their demands and not be used to cause division within the country.
“While we thought we have defeated Boko Haram, we thought we are tackling the cattle herdsmen menace and almost conquered the militants attacks on oil facilities; some centrifugal and centripetal forces are hell bent on disintegrating Nigerian.
“I urged the youths not to lend hearts to this forces that want to tear the country apart. There is need to talk, engage, discussed and deliberate with all Nigerians.
“Nigeria is a big market that cannot be ignored. With a large landmass, abundant human resources, Nigeria is bless. But all this will come to ruin if peace is not guaranteed.
“Nigerian youths need to be talked to. There must be financial empowerment and engagement for the citizen. Nigerian peace rest solely on the youths.”.
The DG said the choice of Kogi as the pilot point for the North -central was not misplaced because the state aside being a symbol to celebrate and copy from, is also pivotal to Nigeria unity and oneness.
He tasked the third tiers of government to carry the campaign to the grassroots, also enjoined state governments to emulate the Federal Government job creation scheme such as the NPower which he said will ensure that the idle youths does not becomes the devil’s workshop.
In is remarks,the State Governor Alhaji Yahaya Bello stated that the present administration is leaving any stone unturned to ensure peace and tranquility in the State.
Bello explained that this government has been able to tackle the spate of insecurity by reducing kidnapping,armed robbery to the barest minimum in the State.
The State Governor who was represented by his Deputy,Elder Simon Achuba urged the Federal government to as matter of urgency proffer lasting solution to the farmers/Fulani horsemen clashes, saying that situation deteriorating.
As part of efforts to ensure peace and tranquility reign in the State, state government has introduced many youths empowerment programmes to take youths vulnerable to violence out of street.
