The Oyo State Commandant of the Nigeria Civil Defence Corps, (NSCDC), Akinsanya Abiodun has disclosed that the command has put in place officers to monitor activities of vandals in the state.

Abiodun said the step became necessary   in order to curb the menace of vandalism and destruction of government property

He also said that he would continue to encourage inter-agency collaboration with other security agencies in the state in order to make their work effective, easy and result oriented.

According to him,  maximum security can only be achieved when there is good collaboration between sister agencies, adding that the Oyo command would collaborate with the Department of State Security, (DSS), Police, Army and others to achieve quality security.

Speaking on his efforts to improve the efficiency of his personnel and the command since his assumption of office on  August 2019, he said the efficiency of his personnel has been improved in different capacities through various training and re- training programmes.

He said,”Since I came on board, my personnel have attended several pieces of training to improve their capacity. We also engage them in ICT training to assist them in the discharge of their duties regularly.

“We have also been adding value to the morals of my personnel in order to ensure they get what is due to them in terms of technical benefits and others.”

The commandant said his achievements include the establishment of a cordial relationship with the three arms of government because the performance of the personnel is determined by how they relate with people in government.

Abiodun who described the inauguration of the Agro Rangers Unit of the NSCDC by the federal government as a welcome development, stressing that it would enhance the capacity of the personnel to function well in providing adequate security to agro-industries in the country.

He explained that “In the areas of a private security guard, we have 137 registered companies in Oyo State, two were registered this year. And apart from that,  in the area of peace and resolutions, out of 65 cases,53 has been resolved while  12 are still pending.

“Also on the   task of providing security, our men are regularly attached to Operation Burst and they have been performing well.”

While appreciating the government for giving them working tools,  he appealed to the state government to assist the command with more vehicles and logistics,  adding that the state is the largest populated state in the country which requires more tool and logistic to work.

According to him, his command has been able to reduce crises between herders and farmers by deploying his men across the 33 local government in the state.
