The National President, Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) , Chris Isiguzo has called on the Federal government to fix Nigeria roads as 95 per cent of the roads are in deplorable conditions
Isiguzo who was speaking at the opening ceremony of the National Executive Council meeting of Nigeria Union of Journalists held at Reverton Hotels in Lokoja, Kogi State Cspital ,stated that the Government must live up to its responsibility.
The National President lamented that some of the members of Executive council arrived very late because bad condition of roads in some other part of the country, saying many people were trapped in between Edo state and Okene in Kogi state .
Isiguzo also bemoaned the deplorable condton of Ajaokuta – Itope federal highway, stressing that the Federal Government “must come to Macedonia to help at least for now”.
He pointed out that Government through the Minister of works should rise up the occasion and fix the bad aspect of the roads in the country.
The National President of NUJ also disclosed that the council will deliberate on issue of security in the country,saying that the government has the responsibility of providing security of lives and property of the people of this country.
Earlier while welcoming the National Executive council members to Kogi State, the Chairman of Kogi State Council of Nigeria Union of Journalists Comrade Adeiza Momohjimoh commended the effort of the state governor in hosting the NUJ National Executive council meeting in Kogi State .
He also lauded the efforts of the Deputy Governor, Edward Onoja for making it possible for NUJ ,Kogi Council to host the all important in Kogi state.
Momohjimoh also noted the the present administration has scored many first ,stressing that the state government had completed a befiting edifice at Graphic Newspaper and the government had equally purchase Outside broadcast van for Radio Kogi.
