Ogun State athletes are beginning to show other states the stuff they were made off by winning four laurels at the ongoing 2018 National Youth Game in Ilorin.
The first Gold medals was won by the Female Football Team of the State at the main bowl of University of Ilorin in Kwara State as the team trashed their opponent Abia State by 6 goals to noting while, Odebiyi Abiden wins Bronze in cycling 10km rally, Onaopemipo Kolesho also wins bronze in Dart boy single 501 events as Samson Fakoya wins bronze medal in 68kg wrestling competition.
Speaking on the outstanding performance of Ogun Female team, Coach Akeem Daranijo said the team has enough time to prepare for the matchs as they have been in camp together even before their arrival at Ilorin, adding that beating Abia State 6 nill at the final was like the team playing with their eye closed as the state those not pose any treat to Ogun team.
The Assistance Coach, Coach Olotu Adeniji said the team was able to carry the day through hard work, team work and consistence in training together, saying that praying together as a team also plays a major role in their victory.
Appreciating the State Governor Senator Ibikunle Amosun for his support, Adeniji said the NYG platform has allowed the State female football team to showcase their talents, hoping that some of players be called to national camp.
