The Ogun State athletes in the ongoing 4th National Youth Games at the University of Ilorin, in Kwara State have advanced on medals table as they have increased their gold medals from two to six, silver from one to two and bronze from six to ten.
Monitoring the games as it unfolds, Ogun State athletes were able to win an additional four gold medals in Ayo male doubles by Segun Kilani and Oshoba Ibrahim, Cycling boys point race by Abideen Odebiyi, table tennis gold was won by Ayo Obadele and tennis was won by Usman Kushimo.
Other medals are silver in table tennis boy singles, won by Akibu Azeez, Ayo Abiona and Akibu Azeez also win bronze in table tennis boys double, Kilani Alice and Shobola Kafilat wins bronze in Ayo Females doubles, Bisoye Afuape wins bronze in table tennis and the last bronze was won in -68kg taekwando boys kyorugi by Ismail Adekanbi.
Appreciating the State Governor, Senator, Ibikunle Amosun for the opportunity given to the athletes to display their talents at the 4th National Youth Games, Tennis coach, Coach Moshood Abiodun , said Usman Kushimo the gold medalist in tennis has been representing the State for quite a long time, adding that the player winning a gold medal was a thing of joy to the State.
He said he hope he would be called to National Camp to further display his talents at national level.
Presently Ogun State has six gold medals, two silver and ten bronze with a strong hope that more medals would still be won in the games yet to be concluded between today and tomorrow.
