The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) disclosed that it has established South-West area office in Osun.
Briefing newsmen in Osogbo on Wednesday, the Osun NYSC Coordinator, Mr Adewale Adegoke,
said the area office would be monitoring the mobilisation of Corp members in all the six states in the SouthWest.
He explained that the agency reolve to establish the area office because of the large number of Corp members being turned out on a yearly basis.
Adegoke, however, warned Corp members against absconding from the one year mandatory service, saying such act is against Section 3 (1b) of NYSC act.
The NYSC boss said any Corp members who absconded from service for three months would be remobilised for the scheme.
According to him, ” NYSC is a body established by law and all graduates of any institution, either in Nigeria or abroad within the age of 30 years must under go the one year mandatory scheme.
“It is important for Nigerians to know that evading the scheme is an offence”, Adegoke said.
He added that the Skills Acquisition & Entreprenuership Department (SAED) of NYSC was equipping Corp members to be self employed rather looking for white collar job.
