OAU Suspends Another Lecturer Over Alleged Sexual Harassment

The authorities of Obafemi Awolowo University, (OAU), Ile-ife has suspended of one of its staff working as Tutor at the University’s Centre for Distance Learning, Mr. Monday Omo-Etan, over allegation of sexual harassment.

Consequent upon this, the institution has also handed him over to the police.

The institution had three weeks ago suspended a lecturer at the Department of International Relations, Mr. Olabisi Olaleye, after conducting an investigation over alleged sexual misconduct involving a female student in the department.

A release signed by the Public Relations Officer of the institution, Abiodun Olanrewaju, and made available to newsmen in Osogbo said that Omo-Etan was accused of molesting a 19-year old female student at the centre.

The statement reads: “The University has suspended staff of the University’s Centre for Distance Learning for sexually molesting a 19 years old female student.

“The Management has reinstated her commitment to the total eradication of any form of sexual harassment, molestation or other social vices.”
