Former President of Federal Republic of Nigeria, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, has denied speculations that he has jetted out of Nigeria without waiting to vote for his preferred presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.
Obasanjo stated this on Friday while briefing newsmen at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL) Oke Mosan, Abeokuta, Ogun State.
He explained that he remains a Nigerian and a father of democracy in Nigeria. “I can’t travel out of Nigeria when there is an election in Nigeria, I will perform my civic right by voting for the candidate of my choice”.
He explained that everybody had the right to carry fake news but that he was not going anywhere till the elections are concluded.
Reacting to the incident in Kano, he said it was sad to hear that police arrested some people in Kano and Ondo States.
He added: “It is not quite long that we received news from Ikorodu that some people had already thumb-printed ballot papers before the election.
“If this is real, then the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has some questions to answer”.
He advised Nigerians to troop out en masse and cast their votes for the candidate of their choice.
