The Obong Iberedem, Akwa Ibom in Oyo State, His Royal Majesty, Edidem Etim Bassey Akanyak (ARSM) has joined millions of people across the state and country to congratulate the state governor Engr Seyi Makinde on his victory over the coronavirus pandemic of which he tested positive recently.
The Monarch in a statement said the governor’s victory was a testimony of the love of God for him and as God’s s chosen to lead the people to the promised land.
While urging the people of the state to continue praying for governor Makinde and the success of his administration, Obong Akanyak commended him for his braveness and as a leader who has the fear of God at heart.
Earlier, the monarch had urged the people to comply with the directives of the state governor by staying at home and by observing all the safety measures to overcome the pandemic.
He said, “I bless the name of God Almighty for giving our amiable governor a deserving victory over the coronavirus.
“The news of his victory brought relief to me and I pray God will continue to guide and uphold him in all his endeavours in Jesus name.”
The Obong again appealed to the people to continue to maintain high level of hygiene at this point in time and be careful what they touch and who comes around them because they never can tell who is the victim around them.
He also urged them to comply with the stay at home order, saying it is necessary as a way of preventing the virus from spreading and infecting more people through close contact at work, market place and other social gatherings.
Obong Akanyak while soliciting for the cooperation of the people for the governor then assured them that the state governor Engr. Seyi Makinde is working very hard to ensure that the virus did not have its way in the state hence the 7pm to 6am curfew and the stay at home order.
