Ogun State Government has assured students who sat for 2016/2017 West Africa Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) across the State to expect the release of their results soon as necessary measures have been put in place.
Governor Amosun gave the assurance during a courtesy call by members of the Administrative and Finance Committee of the West African Examination Council (WAEC), to his office, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.
Amosun represented by his Deputy, Chief (Mrs.) Yetunde Onanuga said government was concerned at ensuring that the results being withheld by the WAEC were released, urging the students to exercise patience.
‘’The government is concerned about the release of the students’ results, I hereby urge them to exercise patience, as all hands are on deck to ensure the release of the results,’’ he said.
Governor Amosun while commending stakeholders in the education sector for contributing to national development, urged the examination body to continue to collaborate with government at all levels in order to improve on academic excellence in schools.
Governor Amosun eulogized the committee of the examination body at ensuring improved academic excellence, especially in the quality of results and performance of students.
Responding, the Chairman of the Nigeria Administrative and Finance Committee, Mr. Jonathan Mbaka, appreciated government for its laudable support in the sector, imploring that stakeholders should always endeavour to promptly settle their financial commitment to the council to enable it fulfill its mandates to the Nigerian child.
