Manufacturers in Ogun State have been advised to encourage their transporters to use haulage stickers to avoid unnecessary delay and harassment by haulage toll collectors.
The Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Otunba Bimbo Ashiru gave the advice at the 11th quarterly meeting between the Ogun State Government and the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN) at Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.
Ashiru said the stickers were introduced to ease the movement of goods and reduce multiple taxation in the State, assuring that government would continue to work relentlessly to promote conducive environment for business activities to thrive.
“When we started this meeting, there used to be a lot of complaints from the manufactures, but today am happy that the complaints have reduced drastically. That shows that the meeting has been yielding the required result”, Ashiru said.
Also speaking, his counterpart from the Ministry of Environment, Mr. Bolaji Oyeleye, urged the manufacturers to fast track the construction of Effluent Treatment Plants in their various factories so as not to endanger the lives of the people and the environment.
He said the Ministry in collaboration with the Ogun State Environment Protection Agency (OGEPA) was working to protect the environment from pollution.
Earlier in his remarks, the Chairman of MAN, Mr. Wale Adeshile, commended the State government for initiating the meeting which he said had addressed most of the challenges confronting its members, seeking government’s intervention for the rehabilitation of roads in Agbona, Ogijo and Ota axis.
