Ogun State Independent Electoral Commission (OGSIEC) has re-affirmed its readiness to conduct a credible and transparent election in all the 20 Local Government Areas of the State as soon as the government gives the go ahead.
Chairman of the state Independent Electoral Commission, Alhaja Risikat Ogunfemi, dropped this hint during a prayer session organized by the commission to mark the end of the 3year tenure of the immediate past local government chairmen.
In a statement by the Head of Media in the agency, Mr. Kazeem Momodu, Ogunfemi charged the staffers of the commission to brace up for the challenges ahead, advising them to remain honest, diligent and dedicated in order to achieve successful local government election, urging them to be prayerful and thorough in everything they do.
She pointed that the electoral body was more than ready to carry out its constitutional duties when the time is ripe for local government election in the state.
The OGSIEC chairman who was flanked at the prayer session by two commissioners of the commission pointed out that since its inauguration by the state Governor, the commission has been stead fast in creating a level playing ground for all the political parties.
She observed that though no date has been fixed for local government election in the state but the commission would continue to prepare its staffers for the onerous task of organizing a credible free and fair election, Calling for the support of staffers in ensuring that the commission lives up to its expectations.
