Ogun Bows to APC HQ Adopts Direct Primary

By Kolawole Olayinka, Abeokuta

The Governor of Ogun State, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, and Ogun State All Progressives Congress (APC) have finally bowed to the superior authority of the National Working Party by agreeing to hold direct primaries for the selection of flag bearers of the party for all elective positions as opposed to the earlier decision

It will be recalled that Governor Amosun initially adopted consensus option, which produced Hon. AbdulKadiri Adekunle Akinlade, and his running mate, Mrs Adepeju Adebajo as well as other flag bearers of the party at all levels, including House of Assembly, House of Representatives and Senatorial Seat.

But he later bent back to adopt direct primary after the outcry over the consensus arrangement.

The decision of the Governor was announced to party faithful by the State Chairman of the party by Chief Derin Adebiyi at a special meeting held at Metros, Ibara Housing, Abeokuta.

The Chairman also admonished all members of the party to be of good conduct and embrace one another irrespective of caucuses, “APC is one and we should relate to one another as one big family. We cannot afford to allow disagreement or wrangling of any sorts disintegrate our party. I only pray all our candidates will emerge victorious,” he stressed.

He charged all party members to troop out in their number to vote for President Muhammadu Buhari in spite of the fact that he would not have any opposition at the primary for presidential candidate holding September 28, 2018.
