Ogun Assures Residents of Ifo, Arigbajo of Adequate Water Supply


The Ogun State Water Corporation has re-assured the residents of Ifo, Arigbajo, Papalanto, Akinsinde, Itori and Ewekoro of adequate potable water supply aftermath of the rain storm which smashed Power Supply Poles and other properties of the Corporation but which had been replaced by the Corporation.

The General Manager of the Corporation, Engr. (Mrs.) Monsurat Agboola made this known while on inspection tour to the Ifo/Akinsinde Water Scheme, at Ifo Local Government Area of the State, saying that no fewer than 10 Power Poles, including pumping house building and Staff’s office were destroyed by the rain storm in the area.

“As a result of the damage caused by the thunder/rain storm to Ifo/Akinsinde Water Scheme, the production of water supply to the axis were initially put off for about two weeks in order to restore the damaged pole and other properties of the Corporation, now that normalcy has returned to the scheme. residents of the areas can now enjoy uninterrupted water supply”, Agboola said.

She added that kiosks, shanties and illegal structures mounted around the water scheme usually constitute nuisance, as some of the roofs of the shanties were blown up and cause the damage to the water scheme, urging the owners of the shanties as a matter of urgency to remove it before the Corporation clamp down on them.

The GM said the Corporation had replaced the poles and other properties damaged by the thunder storms, noting that production of water to the areas, like Papalanto, Ifo, Itori, Arigbajo and their environs had been commenced immediately.

She appreciated the residents of the areas and other numerous customers for standing resolutely throughout the period as the damaged was natural occurrence, while enjoining the people of the areas to promptly pay their water bills as the Corporation would not hesitate to provide them potable water supply.

Corroborating, one of the residents of the area, Mrs. Akinwande Ayomide thanked the Corporation for always justifying the confidence reposed in them, pledging to pay their bills as and when due.

She also urged the residents to reciprocate the kind gesture been given to them in prompt restoration of damaged down to the scheme by the Corporation, noting that by so doing this the people would continue to enjoy water supply in their areas.
