Otunba Bimbo Ashiru, who was a former top banker with Stanbic IBTC, a two term Commissioner for Commerce and Industry in Ogun State and presently a board member of Odua Investment Company was inducted as an Honorary Fellow (FCIB) of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN) along with 18 other Managing Directors in the financial industry amongst who are Dr Adeshina Akinwunmi Ayodeji, President African Development Bank (ADB) , Prof. Kelfalla M. Kallon, Governor Bank of Sierra Leone, Mr Pitan Olukayode Adekunle, MD Bank of industry on Saturday the 5th of December, 2020.
His Excellency Mr Gboyega Oyetola, Executive Governor of Osun State graced the event as the Special Guest of Honour and the induction ceremony was chaired by the former Deputy Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and immediate past Chairman of Fidelity Bank Mr Ernest Ebi with the Chief Host Mr Bayo Olugbemi the present President/Chairman of council the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN) and Mr Kunle Elebute, a Senior Partner KPMG Nigeria & Chairman KPMG Africa as the Guest Speaker.
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo also congratulated Otunba Bimbo Ashiru in a letter dated October 19, 2020, where he said the richly deserved recognition was a further testimony of what he called Ashiru’s commitment to excellence and uncommon sense of duty.
Some Governors in the South-West including Prince Dr. Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State, Engr Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, Mr Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State and Arakunrin Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State, also congratulated Ashiru on what they described as a well deserved honour.
