Fulani herdsmen attacked Owode ketu in Eggun ward in Yewa North Local Government area of Ogun State, killing six, and injuring scores on Thursday.
A member of OGHA Yewa North Constituency II, Hon Wahab Egungbohun, made this know through his media aide.
This was said to be a reprisal by herdsmen as they came in hundreds as a result of the visitation of Sunday Igboho to the area.
He commended the Nigeria Police Force Eggua Police Division led by Mr. Kalejaiye for the swift response to the distress call.
He said: “They killed six people, while 19 others sustained series of injuries and two farmers were matched and thrown into Yewa River along Eggua road from the bridge”.
Calling on security agencies not to relent their efforts in combing the area, he added that the major areas that needed more attention at now are the suburbs of the Ketu constituency namely Imoto, Korole, Asa, Ibeku, Agbon-ojodu, Lasilo, Sangisha, Dangidagi, Igbokofin, Owode Ketu, Ijale ketu, Ipinle, Tobolo- Aworo, Ogunba Ayeitoro.
Hon. Egungbohun explained that the brutal attack on farmers by marauding herdsmen was making him feel that his people are not adequately secured. It is never a crime to be an indigene of the border community.
Egungbohun used the medium to call on Governor Dapo Abiodun to kindly instruct the police commissioner in Ogun State and other security agents to move swiftly to the area so that the issue will not escalate further.
“This is the time we need AMOTEKUN to come out and support the Nigeria Police Force,” he said.
