Ogun Govt Sets to Celebrate June 12

Following the official declaration of June 12 as Democracy Day by the Federal Government, the Ogun State Government is set to commence the celebration with a symposium on the theme; ’’Democracy: Beyond Abiola And June 12’’,  on Tuesday, June 11 at the June 12 Cultural Center, Kuto, Abeokuta, at 10.00 a.m.

According to a release signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr. Kunle Somorin,      the symposium would have, Secretary, NADECO, Hon. Wale Oshin, as the Guest speaker, while the discussants include; former Secretary, Campaign for Democracy, Professor Sylvester Odion Akhaine, former Vice Chancellor, Tai Solarin University of Education, Ijebu-Ode, Professor (Mrs.) Oluwayemisi Obilade, former Chairman, Lagos State Council, Nigeria Union of Journalists and a human rights advocate, Mrs. Funke Fadugba, while the Managing Director, Rock City FM Dr. Niran Malaolu, would serve as the moderator.

The release further stated that there would be an evening of cultural display, documentary and drama on June 12, while March Past, tributes, solidarity messages from various human rights organizations and Pro-democracy groups would hold on Wednesday, June 12 at the M.K.O Abiola International Stadium, Abeokuta, beginning from 10 in the morning.

It enjoined good people of the State to come out en-masse to participate in the programmes.
