Ogun Govt Urges Contractors to Scale Up Projects


The Ogun State Government has urged contractors handling the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Conditional Grant Schemes (CGSs) to scale up projects split across the 20 Local Government and 37 LCDAs of the State, as well as to uphold the “Ogun Standard” project and quality of performance that the state was known for.

The State Commissioner for Budget and Planning, Ms, Adenrele Adesina gave the charge while interacting with contractors in opening a bid for 2015 SDGs/CGSs projects for Local Government Areas, at the Governor’s Office Press Centre, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.

She explained that the CGSs projects were very germane to the state government, noting that the projects were those that would have direct impact on the grassroots, describing the scheme as a way of ensuring even development across the nooks and crannies of the state.

She enjoined the contractors to expedite actions on the contracts with all diligence and seriousness to uphold “Ogun Standard” projects in such a way that the image of the state would be projected to an enviable height among the comity of states.

“Knowing that you are in partnership with the state government, and you must uphold the good standard of the state. Try as much as possible to execute the project to the best and world standard, if you must be appreciated,” She said.

In the same vein, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Mr. Hassan Adekunle, has assured the contractors of releasing their mobilization fee without any further delay, in order to fast-track moving of workers back to site for the immediate takeoff of the projects.

“As much as we will not starve nor delay your payment, kindly, do not perform below standard and expectation, so, move to site immediately and start work,” He urged.

In his submission, Mr. Akin Taofeek of Arshcorn and Form Limited and Mr. Dele Soneye of Victor and Grace Nig. Limited, on behalf of the Contractors appreciated the Tender Board Committee for transparency and accountability in the conduct of the whole process and pledged that they would not disappoint the state government.

The CGSs projects which covered 3 thematic areas of Education, Health and Water/Sanitation, has been awarded alongside construction of classroom, VIP toilets, borehole, health centres and purchase of ambulances.

The projects which had been in the pipe line since 2015, would have 2 next stage implemented in 6 Local Government Ares of Obafemi Owode, Sagamu, Ifo, Ijebu-Ode, Abeokuta North and Ado Odo/Ota Local Government Areas.
