In a bid to ensure effective and even distribution of commodities to health facilities, Ogun State Government has inaugurated a 14 man committee on Logistics Management Coordinating Unit (LMCU) to monitor the distribution of commodities across the 20 Local Government Areas of the State.
The State Commissioner for Health, Dr Babatunde Ipaye who was represented by the Permanent Secretary, Dr Nafiu Aigoro at the inauguration held at Basic Trust International, Abeokuta said the committee was set up to ensure adequate management of logistics that would prevent unnecessary loss of fund and wastage in the supply of health commodities to the local governments.
“We have had challenges over logistics especially managing commodities being supplied by health partners to the State. These commodities often times expired before getting to appropriate destination but with the inauguration of committee, there will be effective monitoring and management of commodities attached to a specific area,” He said.
In his remarks, the Chairman, Ogun State Local Government Commission, Mr. Rotimi Rahman charged the newly inaugurated committee to work in tandem with appropriate agency at ensuring even distribution of commodities to different Primary Health Centres across the State.
He enjoined them to ensure collection of data that would further support the present administration in the mission to provide efficient and qualitative health care delivery to the citizenry.
