Ogun Monarch, Residents Cry Out Over Attacks by Suspected Cultists, Land Grabbers

His Royal Majesty Oba (Engr) Nurudeen Osoja, residents of Ikogbo, Imoshe and environs have cried out to Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, and the Inspector General of Police (IG) Mohammed Adamu to rescue them from hoodlums, suspected to be cultists and land grabbers.

The distress call followed a recent attack on property owners in the community by hoodlums allegedly hired by some land grabbers, terrorizing, threatening to life, robbery and malicious damages to residents’ properties.

Kabiyesi Osoja, while briefing reporters in his palace, said the hoodlums have been unjustly threatening people’s lives, damaging properties.

According to the Kabiyesi, a petition was written through his lawyer to the Police, DSS on September 19, 2020, against Mr Abdul-Ganiyu Adeleke, Soliu Oduoye, Mukaila Aliu, Shakiru Sunday, Taofik Ajose, Rasak Oduoye, Mutiu Bello, Ibraheem Fasasi, Ade Baba-Isila, Solomon Aliya, Sunday Bada and Sodik Anishere in connection with this crime activities.

“The above petition written on 19th, September 19, 2020, forwarded to Ogun State Commission of Police, CP Edward Awolowo Ajogun, Area Agbara Commander, ACP Bolanle Muritala, DPO Igbesa and DSS. It was received and duly acknowledged on September 21, 2020.

“Police have been able to arrest four on Wednesday, September 23, 2020, after the hoodlums maliciously damaged Ikogbo Police Station, vandalized their patrol van beyond repair and engaged the police officers with sporadical gunshots.

“In the cause of the engaging with gunshots with police, one of the cultists Ibraheem Fasasi Bello, Ade aka Baba Isila shot dead two of their cult members.

“Many of the victims of the attack are currently battling for their lives in the hospital. The attack has created panic in the community with residents abandoning their houses for fear of being attacked again.

“Members of the hoodlums that escaped from arrest were still threatening to attack and ensure the residents are seriously dealt with.

“Many people sustained machete cuts. As I speak with you, the remaining people in the communities are living in fear. We are therefore calling on police authorities both in Ogun, Lagos and Force Headquarters, as well as the Anti-Land, grabbing task force to save us from these mindless attacks by hoodlums.”

“Police are still making investigations to arrests the fleeing hoodlums and their supporters”, the Kabiyesi added.

Other fleeing members of the hoodlums include Amidu Seidu, Rasak Oduoye and others.
