Kolawole Olayinka, Abeokuta –
The Ogun State Government has sealed up one of the erring filling stations in Abeokuta, Arolat filling station, located at Olomore for selling Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) above the official pump price of N87.
The filling station was sealed up when the task force on fuel monitoring comprising officials of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry visited the place.
The task force had earlier visited other filling stations in the metropolis including Fatgbems, Isale Igbein, Mallo, Isale Ake and Crystal Station, Quarry road, where the attendants complied with the directive to sell the product to the public at approved rate.
However, at Arolat filling station, the attendants failed to comply with the directive, hence it was sealed up.
Some members of the public who spoke in an interview commended the team for monitoring the sale of fuel, adding that this step would go a long way at alleviating the suffering of the people.
They explained that the hike in the pump price of fuel by some of the filling stations had adversely affected their businesses and social life.
