By Kolawole Olayinka, Abeokuta

Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has approved the sinking of one Motorola Solar Power Borehole at Baba Pupa village in Odeda Local Government Area of the State.

The approval was sequel to the report of the committee set up by the Commissioner for Rural Development, Engr. Taiwo Oludotun, to investigate the plight of the people of the village on the non-availability of drinkable water in the community.

The Chairman of the Committee and Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Rural Development, Mr. Olalekan Lukan said that the villagers had been drinking from a seasonal natural pond which portends danger, saying borehole constructed by Odeda Local Government in the year 2006 was non-functional.

The six-man committee recommended that two new boreholes should be constructed in the village, to alleviate the suffering of the villagers, as well as prevent them from unwanted diseases.

Speaking at the site of the project, the Director of Rural Water in the Ministry, Mr. Ayo Ogundimu, promised that the project would be delivered in two weeks, appreciating Governor Abiodun for the quick intervention in solving the problem that has been ravaging the community for over a decade.
