Ogun to Sign MOU With Brazil on Sports Development

As part of effort to achieve its catch them young a gender in sport, Ogun State Government has putting in palace all the necessary required logistics in place to sign a Memorandum of Understanding  (MOU) with a Brazil sport investors tagged : Brazil /Gateway Academy.
This was disclosed by  the Commissioner for Youths and Sport in the State , Hon. Afolabi Afuape during an interactive session with the news men in his office , MKO Abiola International Stadium,  Abeokuta on the new success recorded by the State Government in sport through the African church Primary school pupils from Onibuku ,  Ado- Odo Ota Local Government area of the state,  that won the 2017 Channels International Kids football competition.
Hon. Afuape stated that the MOU will go a long way at helping the State to achieve lots of his objectives on development of sporting activities among the Youths to guide against lay about of Youths in Ogun State.
His words “ all the necessary arrangements has being put in place by the Ministry to fast track smooth realisations of the Brazil/Gateway Academy as soon as it possible,  because the State has every necessary things that is required including abundant facilities required to kick start the programme which is going to expose and promote the State both locally and international level especially now that country economic is begging for serious international touches.”
He commended  the Channels for their gesture and contributions towards development of  sport activities which has further help Ogun State to discover more talents and commended the team coach, Coach Oriade Ogunbayode for his efforts to have discovered all the talented pupils that make the country and State proud also their performance has boost government confidence on the ability of the state coaches and the team.
Hon . Afolabi Afuape  while appreciating the team give the summary of the process that led to their winning said there was a week camping screening at Abeokuta Grammar school, Idi-Aba , Abeokuta from 15th -21st May, 2017 after which the team proceed to Lagos at CMS Campos Stadium for the preliminaries involving 14 other State in Nigeria and two from other African countries Ghana and Republic of Benin.
The Commissioner urged Channels not to relented in their corporate social responsibilities while challenged other private firms in the country to borrow a leaf from Channels and adopt Sport as their corporate social responsibilities, noting that today development of sport all over the world has gone beyond what government alone can shoulder.
Hon. Afuape assured that the pupils team is not going to be thrown aside rather they will be absorb by the government as a team , training  them together till when the Brazil /Gateway Academy will be ready to admitte them as the first set of football Academy students.
He admonished people of Ogun State to further give their supports to the owned Gateway United as the team continue doing good and moving forward on the table nothing that if 40% attention that individual is given to the foreign team  and Clubs is given to the Nige clubs, the leagues must have better than it is now.
