*Week-long activities begin on Monday
The Olowo of Owo, Oba D.V Olateru Olagbegi (CFR), will be fifteen years on the throne of Owo Kingdom on February 17, 2014.
A press statement issued by the Press Secretary to Owo Kingdom Advisory Council, Mr. Gboyega Amobonye, disclosed that a week-long activities of celebration in commemoration of the day had been lined up beginning with a press conference at the palace at 10 am February 17.
His Royal Majesty, the Owo of Owo, will address the press conference. This will be followed by a cultural display at the palace ground on the same day.
The following day will witness the final of a football completion among secondary schools at the Rufus Giwa Polytechnic ground, Owo at 4 pm.
Health talks and free medical services will be provided at the palace ground on February 19th at 10 am
‘‘Ugbade’’, a usually colorful parade by school children will hold at the palace ground on February 20 at 10 am while the royal dance of Ugha will be performed by the Olowo on February 21.
This will be followed immediately by award of honorary chieftaincy titles and fund-raising in support of palace projects.
Also, coming up that day is the thanksgiving Jumat service at 2:30 pm at Owo Central Mosque while the Christian thanksgiving will come up at Saint Andrews Cathedral Owo on February 23 at 10 am.
Meanwhile, Owo sons and daughters and their friends have been graciously invited to be at home to celebrate with the Oba whose reign is generally acknowledged to have restored peace, progress and prosperity to the kingdom.
