The paramount ruler of Ọwọ Kingdom, His Imperial Majesty Ọba Gbadebo Gbadegesin Ogunoye, lll, has suggested ways by which the government can move forward from the insecurity problem.

Oba Gbadegesin suggested that there should be room for a genuine round table discussion on the kind of system we want to run, rather than mixing federalism with the Unitary system of government.

The first class Monarch, who was on interview section with WESTERN POST, at his palace in Owo, said, “our political leaders have mixed up the features of the federal system of government with that of Unitary which has blindfolded the direction at which we should go in running an agreeable nation.

“The solution to the Nigerian problem is so simple and straightforward, it is all about a discussion on a round table.

“The desire of the political actors to allow Nigeria to move forward requires sitting down and agree on the best way to run our nation.

“Power should be given to the federating units which is the states to have their police so as to be easier for the governors to combat crimes at their levels.

“Imagine there is a crisis in Ọwọ, we will still have to wait for an order from Abuja to subdue the situation, that might be so disastrous but which state police would have handled perfectly well.

“I have always been saying it that, we should choose on which system we are to run; federal or unitary, if it is federal.

“Lets operate with all features of it not to be mixing things up,” he said.

The traditional ruler further said that the mixing up has brought about many agitations and borders on the nation.

According to him, “We all need a clear direction on where we are going and what we want to do before anything can be well-positioned.

“A driver, sailor or pilot without a direction will definitely crash, so let’s be focused and decide on where we are going and what we want to do.”
