The Olubadan Of Ibadanland, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Saliu Akanmu Adetunji, Aje Ogunguniso 1 has assured members of the Akwa Ibom Community resident  in Ibadan of peaceful co-existance and mutual relationship.

The Olubadan gave the assurance on Wednesday during the courtesy  visit of the Akwa Ibom State community  to his palace, popoyemoja, Ibadan.
The visit was led by Obong Iberedem Akwa Ibom, His Royal Majesty, Edidem Etim Bassey Akanyak (ARSM).
Oba Adetunji who described their visit as  first in the history of the Akwa Ibom community in Ibadan said they are no longer visitors or strangers in the state, adding that they would henceforth be treated  as one of them.
“Ibadan people are law abiding, loving and very caring, you are free  to walk and  live in any part of the   Ibadanland or marry from us.
“From today, you are part of the palace and Ibadan, we will always invite you into our activities. We have accepted you today, you are free to walk in any  part of Ibadan,” the Olubadan added.
According to the monach, the visit marked the beginning of a cordial  and robust relationship between the Olubadan and the Akwa Ibom community in Ibadan, just as  he offered them royal blessings.
In an address delivered by Secretary, Council of Elders of  the visiting team of Akwa Ibom Community, Dr M. O. Akpan, said major reasons  for their visit was to express and record their sincere solidarity with the good administration of the Olubadan.
“We appreciate your good leadership and wisdom as a father, as it accommodates  divers ethnic nationalities residents in ibadan. Some of us have  lived here for well over 40 years,” he said.
According to him, the Akwa Ibom State Community is one of the long existing socio-cultural organizations in Oyo State, duly registered by the Corporate  Affairs Commission Abuja as an incorporated trustee organization.
“The association constitutes as membership the entire indigenes of Akwa Ibom State resident in all the 33 local government areas of Oyo State.”
Dr Akpan also explained that  the need  for the establishment of Akwa Ibom  Traditional Council in the state, solely for the traditional function  of  community and the indigenes in the state  brought about the emergence of His Royal Majesty,  Edidem Etim Bassey Akanyak (ARSM), Obong Iberedem  Akwa Ibom as the traditional ruler of the people of the community duly installed by the  Akwa Ibom State Traditional Rulers’ Council in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.
Dr Akpan pledged the cooperation of the community to the Olubadan by watching over their children and wards, impressing upon them to shun all forms of crime.
Speaking at the visit, the Edidem Etim Bassey Akanyak (ARSM) expressed joy and  gratitude to the Olubadan for his warm reception on  the visiting community, just as he assured him of mutual cooperation.
“I am here to present myself to you as the duly installed Akwa Ibom  Royal father in Oyo state, I am very happy with the warm reception from you and I assure you of peaceful co existence of the Akwa Ibom community in Ibadan and the state as  a whole.”
