The Oluwo of Iwoland, HIM Oba (Dr.) Abdulrosheed Adewale Akanbi, has raised the alarm over unqualified medical doctors operating clinics and conducting surgeries for patients in Iwoland.
According to him, nurses in Iwoland, serving and retired, set up private medical centres and conduct surgeries.
The Chief Press Secretary to Oluwo of Iwoland, Alli Ibraheem, in a statement on Monday said, “Reliable information reaching the palace of the Oluwo of Iwoland, HIM Oba (Dr.) Abdulrosheed Adewale Akanbi, has it that there are many unqualified medical doctors conducting surgery for patients in Iwoland.
“The hint reliably confirmed nurses, serving and retired, set up private medical centres and go to the length of conducting surgeries. It was reported that many died during the process while the few survivors were eventually rushed to qualified doctors to perfect the operation.”
The Oluwo of Iwoland, however, appealed to the government, Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), concerned groups most especially Iwoland Development Coalition, individuals and stakeholders to launch an awareness campaign against patronising quack hospitals and doctors.
“Once again, we especially appeal to the health departments and Ministry of Health to investigate and control medical operations of hospitals in the constituency to safe more lives and souls.
“Money, land, house, vehicle and other luxuries of life can be recovered when lost but there is no duplicate to life,” the statement added.
