From Temitope Adedeji in Akure
Based on the utterances of the candidate of a faction of the Peoples Democratic Party in Ondo State, Chief Jimoh lbrahim, that the Resident Electoral Commissioner in the state demanded the sum of $1m from him as a bribe before his name could be included as a candidate in the place of Eyitayo Jegede, the REC said the commission had no anointed candidate whatsoever.
He said he would now file a court case against chief Jimoh lbrahim for defamation of character against his personality.
Agbaje made this known in Akure on Thursday during the publication of the register of voters in the state ahead of the. November governorship election.
The lNEC boss spoke on the reasons for a credible and inclusive voter register to the success of any election.
” The commission has evolved a reliable and comprehensive register of of voters for the conduct of the Ondo State governorship Election by ensuring that all those that are eligible to vote were given the opportunity to register during the last continuous Voters Registration CVR exercise held in June this year in furtherance of the previous registration exercise in 2014 and 2014″.
According to the commission’s boss, the state INEC and the commission’s headquarters are working round the clock towards creating a level-playing field for all the 28 political parties that have nominated candidates for the Ondo State governorship election.
Meanwhile, the commission has also organised a forum tagged “sensitization forum for women on the governorship election” chaired by Mrs. Blessing Obidegwu.
She said women should come out en masse to vote and that stigmatization should be discouraged against women for a free and credible election.
