The race to the 2916 Ondo State governorship election may have turned bloody as Evangelist Niyi Pirisola, one of the main allies of the Ondo State Governor, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, has been assassinated.
Pirisola, the immediate-past Chairman, caretaker Committee of Okitipupa Local Government, was shot dead early Friday morning at his country-home in Ilu-titun in Okitipupa Local Government Area of the state. Mimiko hails from Ondo in Ondo central Senatorial District.
The deceased, one of the main associates of Mimiko in Okitipupa where the late Governor Olusegun Agagu also hailed from, was the immediate-past Chairman, Caretaker Committee of the council under Governor Mimiko.
Efforts by WESTERN POST’s Correspondent to get the police to confirm the killing were not immediately successful on Friday afternoon, but it was learnt that Pirisola’s remains have already been deposited at the state Specialist Hospital Morgue in Okitipupa, Ondo State.
