.. some reporters  were paid to dent his image, says Media Aide

By Temitope Adedeji, Akure

The unending battle between Ondo State Governor  Rotimi Akeredolu and his Deputy, Agboola Ajayi took a  new dimension on Saturday night at the government house, Alagbaka Akure, when the latter was alleged of looting in the government house

The media aide to the Deputy Governor on new media, Allen Sowore said, the cooked – up story was rumoured by an online media who were paid to dent the image of the Deputy Governor by the government.

He expressed that the deputy governor looted government property and therefore, he was not allowed into the government quarters.

Speaking with Western Post in a telephone chat, he said the Deputy Governor was still at the government house doing the needful as at Saturday night, urging those peddling fake and cooked stories to stop and be very careful so as not to put themselves in trouble.

“I know the so – call guys that wrote the fake news were hired and paid by the government to dent the image of the Deputy Governor.

“I will put it to them that, they should be very careful else. They may find their way to the court of law and charge for character assassination,” he said.

Special Assistant (New Media), Office of the Deputy Governor, Comrade Allen Sowore in a statement obtained by Western Post reads:

“Re: Deputy Governor’s Aides In ‘Alleged Looting ’ At Govt House Ahead Of Defection

I have read with amazement the news report by ROVING REPORTER alleged looting of the Government properties by aides of State Deputy Governor’.  The report is part of the grand plan to blackmail and put the office of the Deputy Governor into disrepute for political gain.

It’s sad that the news outlet allowed itself to be used by injured politicians who are desperate for power. For the avoidance of doubt let me state it clearly that NO aide of the Deputy Governor loot or attempt to loot any property belonging to the state government.

The Deputy Governor has further directed Government security agents to thoroughly search any of his aides  when going in and coming out of the Government House.

The general public should be aware of this latest attempt by some unscrupulous element who will stop at nothing to seek relevance.
