Sequel to the abduction and subsequent release of the construction workers on Ikaram-Akunu road in Akoko area of Ondo State, the ongoing construction work has been temporarily suspended as workers were not to be found on site .
Westernpost gathered that all activities have been put on hold presently and no work was going at the project site since the ugly incident occurred.
Unconfirmed report hinted that the expatriate contractor handling the project was the initial target of the kidnappers, but he escaped because he left the site before they struck.
However, residents were not happy that work has stopped as some portions of the road had been flooded and submerged with erosion making it impassable for motorists and pedestrians .
Speaking on the development, a resident of Akunu-Akoko, Mr. Sunday Alex said the abduction case is a serious setback to the early completion of the road.
